その２ 第１章 日本は侵略戦争をしたのか
本書の主目的は、真珠湾攻撃はだまし討ちであったのか、日本の侵略戦争であったのかを明らかにしようというものではありません。日本は勝利の戦略を持っていたのか、持っていたとしたらなぜそれが実現できなかったのか、を明らかにしようというものです。
しかし、侵略戦争であったのか否か、ということは基本的な前提として重要なことですので、１章を割いてこの問題を論じています。
その主要ポイントは次のことがらです。
１） 第二次大戦の根本原因としての１９２９年大恐慌とアメリカの超自己中心的な対応としてのスムート・ホーリー法
２） スムート・ホーリー法をきっかけとした世界主要国のブロック経済政策
３） スチムソン・ドクトリンという日本差別政策
４） コミンテルンの敗戦革命を狙いとした世界戦争促進政策
５） アメリカによる一方的な日米通商条約の破棄通告（１９３９年７月）
６） 経済封鎖は戦争行為である
７） 米上院軍事外交合同委員会におけるマッカーサー証言
８） 宣戦布告は絶対的な義務ではなく、真珠湾はだまし討ちではない
９） ルーズベルトは７月２３日に日本本土爆撃計画にサインをしていた
１０）ハーバート・フーバー第３１代大統領の断言：
「日本との戦争のすべては、戦争に入りたいという狂人（ルーズベルトの欲望であった）（『裏切られた自由』（ハーバート・フーバー）
日米対立の元でもあった日中戦争については複雑になるので、ここでは詳しくは述べられていません。同じ著者の『戦争を仕掛けた中国になぜ謝らなければならないのか』（自由社）を参照していただくよう注記してあります。一言述べれば、日本は何度となく和平提案を行い、また一片の領土要求もしていないということです。

Was the Japanese strike on Pearl Harbor a “sneak” attack? Was Japan an “aggressor” in World War II?
These are weighty questions. However, my intent in writing this book was not to address them in great detail, as anyone who has read the Foreword can see.
Still, I see no reason to go to great lengths to avoid any mention of these topics. I will briefly describe my thoughts on these matters.
The followings are the main points I wrote in this Chapter concerning these matters:
1) The panic of 1929 and the Smoot-Hawley Tariff as foundations for WW II,
2) Proliferation of economic blocks leads to fragmentation of the world’s markets,
3) The Stimson Doctrine,
4) The Comintern embraces revolutionary defeatism and promotes war under an anti-war slogan,
5) Unilateral abrogation of the Japan-US treaty by America (announced July 1939),
6) Economic blockade are acts of war,
7) MacArthur’s testimony before the US Senate in 1951,
8) Declaration of war is not mandatory and the Pearl Harbor strike was not a “sneak” attack,
9) Roosevelt approves a plan for the bombing of Japan in July 1941,
10) The conclusion reached by the 31st President of the US, Herbert Hoover:
The whole Japanese war was a madman’s desire to get into war. By madman, Hoover meant Franklin D. Roosevelt.
The major reason for US-Japan conflict was the Second Sino-Japanese War.
