スリランカはアジアの国々とともに自由を勝ち取った

２月４日は、スリランカの独立記念日です。この記念日にちなんで、スリランカの弁護士で仏教活動家のセナカ・ウィーララトゥナ氏は、スリランカのビジネス日刊紙 Daily FTにこの論文を寄稿しました。

セナカ氏はスリランカの独立は、自らの戦いは微弱なもので、インドの独立闘争に便乗したものであったと言います。インドはスバス・チャンドラ・ボースの指導の下、日本と協力してインド国民軍によりイギリスと戦ったからこそ、インドが独立できたのだと言います。
インドでは今やネタジ・チャンドラ・ボースこそがインド解放の父であるといわれるようになっていると言います。ガンジーをインド解放の英雄に仕立て上げたのは、英国人か英帝国に飼いならされたインド人の陰謀に過ぎないとすら言います。実際のところ、ガンジーもインド国民会議もイギリスにとっては痛くもかゆくもない存在だったのです。
要するに、西洋のアジアにおける植民地主義は最終的にはアジアの人々の武力によって打倒されたわけです。日本、ベトナム、インドネシア、ビルマ、インド、フィリピンの人々が見事に西欧と戦い、５００年近くも続いた植民地支配を打倒したというのが歴史の真実なのです。特に日本は、インドを解放する青写真を持っていました。これこそ２０世紀を記念する偉大な出来事でした。
さらにセナカ氏は、精神的な「脱植民地化」の必要性を強調しています。そのためには、１５０５〜１９４８年の植民地時代の歴史の見直し、書き換えが何よりも大事だと言います。まさしく「歴史修正主義」です。世界を支配する、左翼的な、また東京裁判史観の歴史学者、インテリは、「歴史修正主義者！」「否認者＝ディナイアー！」と叫んでこれを押しつぶそうとするでしょう。しかし、西洋植民地主義がベースにある歴史、歴史観は、アジアの独立派によって正しく「修正」すべきなのです。
セナカ氏は、さらに「憲法」も、「脱植民地化」されなければならないと言っています。日本人もこの正義の訴えに目を覚ますべきでありましょう。

Sri Lanka’s march to freedom alongside the rest of Asia

Commemorating Sri Lanka’s Independence Day, February 4, Mr. Senaka Weeraratna wrote, “Sri Lanaka’s march to freedom alongside the rest of Asia,” in the Daily FT, Sri Lanka’s only national daily business newspaper. With Mr. Weeraratna’s kind permission, we republish his commentary here:

He writes that Sri Lanka’s independence rode on the back of India’s struggle. India, under the leadership of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, marched on to Delhi with Japanese military assistance. Even though his struggle failed, it led the way to Indian independence.
The Government of India has declared Netaji Subash Chandra Bose the father of India’s struggle for freedom, displacing Mahatma Gandhi from a pedestal that many thought was unassailable. This represents a historic shift towards changing the overall narrative of India’s liberation from British occupation.
The view that Mahatma Gandhi, utilizing ‘Ahimsa’ and ‘non- violence’ in his civil disobedience campaigns, won India’s freedom has been discarded.
Western colonialism in Asia was ultimately defeated by force of arms on the part of the people of Asia. The Japanese, Vietnamese, Indonesians, Burmese, Indians, and Filipinos successfully challenged the West– resisting foreign occupation and finally emerging victorious. The departure of the West from the East after nearly 500 years of military adventurism and hegemonic rule is one of the defining landmarks of the 20th century.
Mr. Weeraratna further calls for spiritual “decolonization.” He says “… our written History particularly of the colonial era from 1505 – 1948 should be reviewed and rewritten by top scholars with de-colonized minds. This principle also applies to the drawing of the national constitution.”
European historians and intellectual elitists will condemn such “historical revisionism”! Yes, this is in fact revision of history, written with a decolonized view of history.
