Inconvenient and Uncomfortable:
Transcending Japan’s Comfort Women Paradigm
Marshal Wordsworth
CreateSpace Independent Publishing, 2018
Reviewed by Tadashi Hama

We are pleased that a straight-to-the-point book on the Comfort Women has been written by an American and published in the US, even though it is through Amazon’s on-demand publishing. We would like to think that our previous efforts in disseminating books and articles on this subject through our website and by other means have contributed to the emergence of books like this, and this one in particular.
Here is Mr. Tadashi Hama’s overview of the book:

The Korean nationalists, human rights activists and the mass media characterize Japan’s war-time brothel system as a “state-sponsored sexual slavery system involving a systematically organized illegal and immoral military operation.” Much of the details of the Japanese military brothel system, documented by the US military in war-time and post-war prisoner interrogations and captured Japanese documents that showed that these accusations were false, have been in the public realm for some time, yet they have been either downplayed or studiously ignored by Korean nationalists and their allies. Writer Marshall Wordsworth collects the facts and offers his reflection on the World War II Japanese military brothel system. In fact, the current book offers much for reflection, not only on the true nature of the Japanese military brothel system but also on the comfort women’s role during the war.

Korean nationalists, western media, intellectuals and human rights groups, with blind obedience, continue to support the Comfort Women story and espouse “justice” (revenge?) in terms of “violations of human rights” and “criminal” behavior. Readers of this book will immediately see how stupid and how unscrupulous they are.

Gunkanjima (Battleship Island): A World Heritage Site Soiled by Korea
–Another distortion of history, akin to the “comfort women”
By Matsuki Kunitoshi
Series No.3: Part 1: Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5

In Series No.2, I demonstrated that the film Gunkanjima was a fantasy and a complete distorted of reality. The reality was that Korean workers were paid wages at the same level as Japanese workers and Korean children went school together with Japanese children. But the climax of the film, Korean workers revolting against the Japanese military and marching on to victory, was really laughable, in that there were no military units in Gunkanjima—just two police officers on the whole island. Perhaps the Koreans were fighting ghosts.
Books with similar content are marketed towards children! Gunkanjima—Shameful UNESCO World Heritage (written by Lee Munyon, Uri Education) states that Japan even forcibly abducted little boys from the Korean Peninsula and took them to Japan. We are not sure what to think of Koreans who did not even rebel once against the Japanese back then, if what the book states is true.
Hell Island Gunkanjima, was published by Pullbit Publisher and written by Kim Yon-suk for lower level primary school children. Gunte’s father said to him, “Those Japanese came aboard a truck and abducted people walking on the street at random. You’d better be careful.” Of course, this is a complete lie, in that Japanese abducted Korean people minding their own business. Not one Korean ever reported such an event. It is sad and disgraceful that Korean children are being taught false and hateful stories at an early age.
One thing I should mention. As written in Chapter 5, Japan is in fact one of the sources of lies concerning Gunkanjima, a so-called island of hell. The book Listen to Gunkanjima—A Record of Forcibly Abducted Koreans and Chinese in Hashima was published in 2011 by the Society to Vindicate the Human Rights of Korean Residents in Nagasaki. Photo documentation—Chikuho, Gunkanjima, Forced Abduction of Koreans and Later Years (hereinafter, Chikuho/Gunkanjima), written by Hayashi Eidai (Gen Shobo), is another book of that genre. Moreover, in Nagasaki City, there is a place called the Oka Masaharu Memorial Nagasaki Peace Museum. This museum extensively presents lies and distorts the contents of photographs.
The origin of the “Comfort Women sexual slavery” story was the book, My War Crime, written by Yoshida Seiji, published in 1983 in Japan. Today, it has been completely verified that his story was entirely fake. Once again, Japan issues lies concerning war-time labor conscription—Japan itself is creating the “Korea problem”.

JAPAN’S MASTER PLAN FOR VICTORY:
WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN
By Moteki Hiromichi
Heart Publishers, Tokyo, 2018
Series No.2, Chapter 1: Did Japan Wage a War of Aggression?

Was the Japanese strike on Pearl Harbor a “sneak” attack? Was Japan an “aggressor” in World War II?
These are weighty questions. However, my intent in writing this book was not to address them in great detail, as anyone who has read the Foreword can see.
Still, I see no reason to go to great lengths to avoid any mention of these topics. I will briefly describe my thoughts on these matters.
The followings are the main points I wrote in this Chapter concerning these matters:
1) The panic of 1929 and the Smoot-Hawley Tariff as foundations for WW II,
2) Proliferation of economic blocks leads to fragmentation of the world’s markets,
3) The Stimson Doctrine,
4) The Comintern embraces revolutionary defeatism and promotes war under an anti-war slogan,
5) Unilateral abrogation of the Japan-US treaty by America (announced July 1939),
6) Economic blockade are acts of war,
7) MacArthur’s testimony before the US Senate in 1951,
8) Declaration of war is not mandatory and the Pearl Harbor strike was not a “sneak” attack,
9) Roosevelt approves a plan for the bombing of Japan in July 1941,
10) The conclusion reached by the 31st President of the US, Herbert Hoover:
The whole Japanese war was a madman’s desire to get into war. By madman, Hoover meant Franklin D. Roosevelt.
The major reason for US-Japan conflict was the Second Sino-Japanese War. But it is a great task to thoroughly analyze this war in detail here, so readers are recommended to read my other book, Why Apologize to China, the Instigator of the Second Sino-Japanese War? http://www.sdh-fact.com/CL/How-China-Started-the-Second-SinoJapanese-War-Whole.pdf

Gunkanjima (Battleship Island): A World Heritage Site Soiled by Korea
–Another distortion of history, akin to the “comfort women”
By Matsuki Kunitoshi
Series No.2: Part 1: Chapter 1, Chapter 2

In July 2015, the former coal mining facility of Gunkanjima (Battleship Island), located southwest of the Port of Nagasaki, was inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Property.
When it was made known that Gunkanjima’s facilities were included on the UNESCO World Heritage List, Korea opposed this, arguing that Korean workers were forced to work in an inhumane environment. Their opposition was strident and persistent. They produced much propaganda that allegedly showed Korean workers in misery. Included was a photo that allegedly demonstrated abused Korean workers at Gunkanjima. However, an expert examined the photo and found that it was a photo from the Asahikawa Newspaper, dated September 9, 1926. The photo was of Japanese workers at a construction site.
Regrettably, as always, the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs took a very compromising attitude towards Korean pressure. To appease Korea, Japan’s Foreign Ministry acknowledged the use of “forced labor” to the Committee on World Cultural Heritage at the time of Gunkanjima’s inscription. Koreans were no less appeased by these words. Rather, they were further encouraged to attack Japan, on the ground that the Japanese government acknowledged the use of “forced labor”.
The Koreans turned up their propaganda campaign. As introduced in No.1 of this series, they produced a film Gunkanjima (Battleship Island), which is nothing but lies and fabrications. Towards the end of the film, Korean “mobilized workers” and “comfort women” take up arms and overcome the Japanese soldiers. The Koreans then escape to freedom from Gunkanjima by boat. This is really laughable, as at the time there were only two police officers in one koban on the entire island—there were no Japanese military personnel.
The film was not only promoted in Korea but worldwide. The film was advertised in the US, for a week, with the help of the Times Square billboard in New York City.

A Pronouncement on “mobilized workers from Korea”
at the UN Human Rights Council 41st session

The International Research Institute of Controversial Histories (iRICH) sent a mission to the UN Human Rights Council’s 41st session, held from June 24 to July 12, 2019, to make a statement concerning wartime workers mobilized from Korea. The mission consisted of three members: Mr. Matsuki Kunitoshi, Modern Korea Research Institute; Mr. Sakamoto, former “Battleship Island” resident and Mr. I U-yon, NAKSONDE Economic Research Institute (Korea). The pronouncement reflected several positions, of a Japanese Korean Researcher, a Japanese former resident of Battleship Island, which was called a hell for mobilized Korean workers, and a Korean economist.

JAPAN’S MASTER PLAN FOR VICTORY:
WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN
By Moteki Hiromichi
Heart Publishers, Tokyo, 2018
Series No.1: FOREWORD & TOC

If I were to say that Japan had a formula (and a viable one at that) for victory in World War II, what sort of reaction would I get? Perhaps most people would be dismissive, wondering how I could be suffering from such a delusion at this late date. Certainly most citizens of the Western world would react that way.

James B. Wood of the William College history professor sums up the mentality of Western world regarding this topic in his book Japanese Military Strategy in the Pacific War: Was Defeat Inevitable? As follows.

“Why were the Japanese so crazy as to take on the United States?” or “How could a country with a GNP about that of Italy or Canada, expect to win?” or “Why should we expect anything else from a country with a feudal warrior code and culture, emperor worship, racial supremacy notions, and a total lack of sympathy or respect for her neighbors?” The implication is that those responsible for Japan’s path to war were ignorant or irrational, perhaps a blend of both, as well as basically evil — a perfectly other counterpoise to the victor of modernity in all respect, the United States.

However, I would like to present quite a different view on this topic in this book. On November 15, 1941, three weeks prior to the Pearl Harbor strike, the Japanese government and Imperial General Headquarters held a liaison conference. Those present discussed the Draft Proposal for the Promotion of the End of the War Against the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Chiang Kai-shek), and decided to execute it. I consider this the master plan, the plan for victory, and will be analyzing it with the aid of practical simulations throughout this book.

If Japanese military leaders abided by this master plan, the situation will be very likely to become the one, which Winston Churchill feared as expressed in his letter to Franklin D. Roosevelt sent on April 15, 1941.

I must revert to the grave situation in the Indian Ocean … arising from the fact that the Japanese have felt able to detach nearly a third of their battle fleet and half their carriers, which force we are unable to match for several months. The consequences of this may easily be: (A) The loss of Ceylon. (B) Invasion of Eastern India with incalculable internal consequences to our whole war plan and including the loss of Calcutta and of all contact with the Chinese through Burma. But this is only the beginning. Until we are able to fight a fleet action there is no reason why the Japanese should not become the dominating factor in the Western Indian Ocean. This would result in the collapse of our whole position in the Middle East, not only because of the interruption to our convoys to the Middle East and India, but also because of the interruptions to the oil supplies from Abadan, without which we cannot maintain our position either at sea or on land in the Indian Ocean Area. Supplies to Russia via the Persian Gulf would also be cut. With so much of the weight of Japan thrown upon us we have more than we can bear.

I’ll also present analysis why this victorious strategy was not realized in this book.
